Stephen Kelly When visited The Valley : All Season Event : home season ticket holder Comments : I agree totally with our disabled visiting supporters as I have seen our away end a couple of times. How can disabled supporters see if the travelling supporters keep standing up? Couldn't we do something like put it on ground level as I am a regular traveller with Charlton and I have been to a few grounds where they have done that, most notably at Derby. I just think that it is a total disgrace that you have to have upper body strength. As for disabled supporters getting a drink there is a trolley that comes around at half time for home fans - I thought that they gave that option to the visitors, if they haven't it might be worth considering as it would save a lot of hassle.
Date submitted : Monday 5th Dec 2005 By : Bryan When visited The Valley : 04/12/05 Event : Manchester City Comments : Comments :saw my side win at Charlton or I should say I saw the first half and the odd attack from Charlton in the second half .
Now why, when Charlton know full well that disabled fans can not see the match when their team attacks the Jimmy Seed stand do they not do more to help disabled fans see.
All they have to do is make the area that the wheelchair go in higher. It would not cost much money, only a few quid .If they want me to show them how to achive this I am more tham willing to help them .
Date submitted : Monday 21st Nov 2005 By : ?bry When visited The Valley : ?been a few times Event : versus manchester city Comments : Comments :For me it was awful view but they have taken away about 3 rows of seats so its not as bad as it was. You still can not see. They should have gone for about 5 rows. It is imposible to get a drink at half time so take a flask with you .
Date submitted : Tuesday 16th Nov 2004 By : Canary on Wheels When visited The Valley : November 2004 Event : versus Norwich Comments : Comments : Totally concur with above, view is appalling when other fans stand. Pity as otherwise a good day out. They had tried to help by netting the two rows of seats in front of disabled to left of stand, but that still left great area invisible when crowd stands. Never once saw anything of ball in net at our end. Very helpful stewards though. If you fancy a drink before going to stadium ,staff will help to get you in the back door(two steps)at the Liberal Club, Very friendly, big TV, cheap beer

Agree entirely with the blue nose above.
Fortunatley i have my upper body strength and could lift myself in my chair to see any goalmouth action at our end but anyone with restricted upper body movement has no chance. great stewards and decent home fans.
Date submitted : Monday 11th Aug 2003 By : Mark Wilson When visited The Valley : 0203 season Event : Everton Comments : One of the warmest welcomes anywhere in the country and without doubt the worst away area view you will ever come across. Charlton are an enigma. The people are superb and you sense the embarrassment at having to show away disabled fans to an utterley disgraceful section mid way up the away end stand. True, a few seat spaces "in front of the disabled section(s)" have been removed....but it makes little if any difference....your own fans have to keep standing just to see the game in the "away" goalmouth and it ruins your day. Previous 2 yrs we were allowed to sit on the touchline but some jobsworth now rules it out....blaming that classic "Safety" angle which clubs love to use to avoid putting things right. The people at Charlton are the best you will come across anywhere but what is offered to disabled away fans is a complete disgrace and shames a really impressive club.
