Dear Sir,
I am writing to inform you that I have set up a "visually Impaired Facility" at The Galpharm Stadium at Huddersfield Town.
The facility is an Executive Box fitted with a 6ft by 6ft screen and a projector. The projector is connected to the Clubs cctv and we are showing all the games on the big screen. The facility is up and running and has been full for the first 2 games with sight impaired youngsters from local clubs.
It is free for anyone with a registered sight impairment and we of course welcome adults/helpers as required. There are only 10 places availiable for each game . There are also 3 car parking spaces which come with the box and free programmes, coffee and tea etc.
I have some donations and sponsorship and am awaiting a number of enqs re attracting a major sponsor and the best way of attracting them is to fill the facility at every game.
The facility has been cleared under the Health and safety Act and is also covered under The Childrens Act.
Any person or clubs wishing to use the facility contact me via e-mail at dorotheas@onetel.com for further information.
many thanks Richard Scrivener

I am currently trying to complete the 92 grounds (8 to go!) and decided to take in a visit to the Galpharm. Having decided late on a Friday for the Tuesday game, I emailed them to enquire about spaces etc. I was stunned to get a reply first thing Saturday morning with all the details I needed. So I booked tickets and parking and set off on Tuesday.
Finding the ground was easy with a sat nav and good road signs. The first parking attendent was expecting me and sent us straight up. We parked, got the wheelchair out and headed for the away stand (although I am not a Brighton fan, I opted for the Away end for the elevated platform,)
We asked a steward where we collected our tickets and she straight away offered to go and get them for us.
We then went into the ground where shown exactly where to go, my helper was even more impressed that he was given a nice comfy cushioned seat to sit next to me.
The steward was fantastic, very talkative and making sure we knew where everything was and if we needed anything. She even checked on us during the game.
At the end getting back to the car was a little different as we were sent the wrong way, and then we had to wait a while to get out the car park...but hey that's football traffic for you.
Overall the friendliness and superb attitude of all the staff (even the guy in the food kiosk was polite) and it actually made me feel like a paying customer instead of the inconvienience type of attitude you get at so many clubs.
I cannot rate Huddersfield highly enough, no wonder they were named Family Club of the year for League One. If only half of the league clubs where more like this, you would actually enjoy going to football every week instead of it being a real chore at some places.
Well done to all at HTFC, I will be back.
I have also submitted some pictures of the view from the disabled area, which I though was as good at it gets. Date submitted : Wednesday 3rd Mar 2004 By : Irvin Morris Hon.DLO Yeovil Town F.C. When visited Galpharm Stadium : 2nd March 2004 Event : Yeovil Town Comments : Comments :Excellent Stadium and Facilities for Away Disabled Supporters. However, Match Ticket availabilty for Ambulant Disabled Supporters requires to be addressed. These are allocated at a lower level gate on entrance which then involves walking and climbing a considerable number of steps to the back of the Away Stand to the area provided for Away Supporters. Not very considerate for those who suffer from arthritis or have heart or breathing problems. There are no reciprocal arrangements for Away Supporters Coaches i.e. No Charge at Yeovil but Coaches are charged for Parking at Huddersfield????
