Arsenal appoint a new Disability Liaison Officer
Alun Francis has been appointed as Disability Liaison Officer at Highbury.
Alun's tasks not only include responsibility for ticketing arrangements for disabled supporters, in addition he will also look at all the club's activities to ensure that the club meets current and future disability legislation. His is thought to be one of the first such appointments in the Premiership and Football League.
A wheelchair user himself, Alun joined Arsenal from RADAR, the national pan- disability organisation campaigning for full equal rights for disabled people. Prior to this new challenge Alun had already had some involvement with Arsenal having represented RADAR on the 'Arsenal on the Move' group looking at disabled supporter's access to the new Emirates Stadium.
'I'm looking forward to getting to know our many disabled supporters. Also, learning how the club operates and identifying any areas where things can be improved for disabled people'.
